Blogs
I had a parent last night ask me my opinion on blogs. Apparently they had read the whole ZIB article and wanted to know what my whole take on the situation was. I explained that blogs are just a journal. I even know teachers who use them as an assignment and require students to reflect about the things they do in class (kinda the way I sometimes foster discussions on the forums). I explained that I keep a blog myself, and that I had many discussions with the blogging crew last year about what was posted. I also explained that blogs are student's personal space, and that I have no control over what they say, nor will I try and regulate what people write, however I will have discussions with everyone about appropriate material and posting things in places for the world to see.
anyway.. off to a day.

Kind of person
The kind of person I try to be tends to (I at least hope) lean towards the kind of person who prefers to be happy and share that then the one who worries about going out of their way in little bits. I offered to burn music for someone the other day, and they responded with surprise (even though I have done it before on various occaisions). I hope that people see this about me or have figured it out by now. I also hope that it rubs off on some of the people around me. I went through a lot early on in life, and as a result have decided that the people in my life are more important than any things that could come floating through. (yes students included in that)
I hope that you all realize that part of the reason I love my job so much is the random events that keep me laughing at school all day - I couldnt thank you in any way for that besides the way I make sure that I give everything to teaching, and the occaisional music that I share with you. (which actually amuses me as well that I have actually kinda started certain "music trends" among the students) lol

top down
today was definately a drive home with the top down day. So beautiful out and a great way to just decompress and process. Tonight is for grading papers - no I probably will not get ALL the tests graded.. not even close - and also uploading the next units for AP and CS1.. That will probably take the majority of the evening in that I have to type the assignments for CS1.
you need to talk to me about the whole TA thingie so we can talk about finacial stuff and your responsibilities. I also need to talk to the supervising person from Idaho and see how she is going to handle testing.. bleh.
Anyway, back to grading math papers - then on to uploading assignments - then to CS papers..

Counting Crows and a new alarm clock
Got a new alarm clock today - the old one broke and I was using my temporary travel one which does not have a radio feature. Sorry people but the *beep beep beep* doesnt wake me - I need a variety of noise and radio provides that. When Rich went out and got that he also picked up the counting crows concert cd from the show they did a while ago in NY. Has both music from the concert as well as a number of unplugged tracks that they did for VH1 storytellers - AWESOME MUSIC. Very mellow. Going to definately have to add this to my playlist for while I am working.
So I am grading papers tonight and setting up the site for the students who are joining the class from Idaho. Yes, non fox laners, I have 6 students joining APCS from Idaho this year - very cool. Hopefully they will add a slighty different perspective to the wackyness that is my classes. :)
Go club was good today too, although *glowers @ sam* you should not start a good game and then run out.. not right!

weekend
What a weekend.. although from the way I feel this morning I guess some people were right about taking it easy (because of my cold). Once again the person with the baseball bat returned while I was sleeping last night and has decided to make me feel like every muscle is sore. Maybe yoga later will help.
Ok, so here is the scoop from the weekend. Friday night was dinner with friends at home. Then to EMS where I worked the overnight (thank you to the white cloud for providing no calls for the evening). Then down to NYU Sat. morning/afternoon where I watched a volleyball game. I figured Matt had been so great with the robotics club - this was a good way to show him my appreciation. Then up to columbia for random hanging outs/chats/dinner with you. I now understand why you are so smitten with sasha.. he seems like he is a good friend to you. *waves to all the suitemates and friends I met* I hope you had a good time after I left. I would have stayed, but.. well you understand.
then home and now ..work..
