of halloween and solar flared
first of all this is cool...
Secondly my away message for most of the day said:
happy halloween..
I am off to inflict terror in the hearts of students :p
while I got various responses to that message I think this one was the best - Thank you Josh:

Jury Notice
In the mail today I got a Juror Qualification Questionnaire. The questions are kind of silly if you really think about it. First they make it quite clear that you MUST answer the questionnaire. so there is the basic blah-diddy-blah about is your name/address/etc. correct. Then dob in order to make sure they have the right person (since law no longer lets them use your social security number). Now keep in mind that it is against the law not to comply with the questionnaire - here are the questions.
(1) Can you understand and communicate in the English Language
(2) Are you a citizen of the US? if not provide a copy of visa or alien registration card
(3) Are you a resident of the above named county, if not provide proof.
(4) Are you at least 18 years old?
(5) Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
(6) Have you recieved a questionnaire or jury summons in the past 4 years?
Now is it just me or if you cannot answer #1 then how are you going to return the survey lawfully? and about 2 and 3? if you do not have the correct answers to those, are you going to worry about the legal penalties of not answering this survey? and 4 - did I mention that about 2 lines higher they asked for dob? ::sigh:: got to love the redundancy in bureaucracy..

Chiropractors
::sigh:: back feels soo much better after adjustments today and yesterday. but all the good I did by going and having it adjusted I am probably undoing by sitting here on the computer/grading papers.
Oh well.. still in a relatively good mood - which is nice. Driving to school this morning was excellent. It was nice out and the sun was up (light out) so the brilliant fall colors were really getting shown off. I love this time of year. Its even starting to smell like fall.

Does little happy dance
Ok - extra happy for two reasons - first of all I feel that I wrote an excellent AP CS test and even created grading rubrics etc. Lot of work (about 2 weeks) went into this test - but it was worth it. It is extremely well written and the questions are of varying difficulty and assess a wide variety of outcomes. ::does cs happy dance::
Other reason - I love learning and the complex number little independant study that I am doing with Mrs. K, Nadler, Koloski, etc. is providing me with a structured reason to play with some cool proofs and learn some new math. Here are my current questions to ponder - Is the complex plane necessarily orthoginal to the real plane? Are we accepting the isomorphism of the real to the imaginary numbers done by Gauss for only a subset of operations for which it happens to work? and if so, is there an isomorphism that is more universal?
Some proofs to do on my own: (i) prove that sqrt(i) = + sqrt(2)/2 , and (ii) with the 2^nth root of i - is there a sequence or series based upon the initial square root (or possibly trig values of pi/4) that will allow you to generate i^2^n?
Ok, enough scaring the non mathies who read this.. but ::does math happy dance:: (yes its different from the cs one)

Late Night
Just leaving fox lane now - that right check the time stamp.. at least I wont have much to do when I get home - just some AWESOME reading about complex numbers for a math gathering tomorrow afternoon.. very very awesome! I have been a little envious of all of you who are out learning new things.. this might just help me not feel so jealous.. :p

Note to self
Make a chiropractors appointment. Neck is killing me from plane ride - was fighting a headache for most of the day.

Need to work on getting people back into playing go. My skills are so rusty! I really need to start playing again both in class and online so that I improve.
