email

I always find it amusing when people forward junk jokemail from their work accounts and the "this email may contain private or privaledged information" quote comes up on the bottom. I wonder if these people realize that A) this message is being tacked on by their server at work and B) that logs are being kept of these messages for the admins to peruse? I soo would buy the "I read your email" shirt from thinkgeek if I had that job.

Why I need to move this to a place where people can comment

Comment from a regular reader on the last post: regarding your buying sleep comment:
i am a little skeptical. every resource short of air (im sure its coming) has been abused and stolen by the upper classes and richer countries. i am sure that if sleep were purchasable, our economic system would soon change into a system using the idea that nobody would actually need to get sleep on their own. people could and would work longer hours, but this would be ok, because we would gain an extra 5-10 hours on our day. Sure this would all work great for about a month, but then everyone who couldnt afford sleep would no longer be able to afford a job. The completely jobless would be unable to get a job ever. Daytime would be generated everywhere in major citys, and police would be on patrol 24/7. Soon nobody would be able to sleep normally and we would be forced to be dependent on sleep that many would not be able to aford. Discount sleep chains would open up, further polluting the environment and lowering the health of those forced to depend on them. the gap between the rich and poor would further increase, eventually leading to a situation exactly like the one we are in today, only with more stores, more pollution, a bigger wealth gap, and another commodity. only those in highly paid jobs would be able to afford lots of good sleep and everyone else would have to suffer with 4-7 hours a night of low quality sleep.
isnt it awesome how the capitalist system perverts great ideas :-)

good point.

Buying Sleep

I made a comment last night that the more I think about it, the better it sounds. What if we could buy sleep? Like you could walk into a sleep store (or would it be called a sleep bar?) and go up to the counter and say "I would like 8 hours please", pay the nice salesperson (of course they are nice, one of the perks of working at a sleep bar is you get discounted sleep :p ) and bam! you feel the effects of 8 hours of sleep (of course good sleep would cost more..)

How awesome would that be? It could very possibly end some of the issues in the world today - dont you think that some of the leaders of countries are just a little grumpy from lack of sleep? You could also do anything you wanted.. and still get enough sleep to get back to the rest of the day. Just think of the possibilities!

boo for a very unproductive weekend

I accomplished probably about a 1/4 of what I should have. bleh.. more work this week then. Oh well :)

Its a beautiful monday and I have the whole week ahead of me. For those of you who dont know, they produced a movie of the Michael Crichton novel Timeline. I STRONGLY recommend that you read the book!!! It is beyond awesome - its one of those books that you cant put down until you are done! (and :ppppp @ you for being silly enough to start Wizards First Rule at 3 in the morning - of course you are going to read it for 7 hours without putting it down - please be more responsible for starting times for the rest of the series !)
